I am a biologist, who was always fascinated by plant-pollinator interactions and evolution. Since my undergrad studies I started working with bees. My first scientific project had the goal of detect changes in the bee fauna of a region after 40 years of intense urbanization. My initial interest on pollination ecology and evolution guided my research projects in Masters, Doctoral Studies, where I consolidated my research interests on the evolution of bees, especially focusing on interactions with plants. The most important question of my research is how bees and plants mutually influenced their evolution in time and space and traits have played a role in this long-term mutualism. My main group of study are Apid bees, but also other bee groups and plants.
I have a Bachelor in Biology (Universidade Federal do Parana), MsC in Entomology (Universidade de Sao Paulo) and PhD in Entomology (Universidade Federal do Parana/Ludwig Maximillians Universität). I have research experience in Instituto Nacional de Pesquisa da Amazonia, Manaus, Brazil and the Entomological Collection Pe. Jesus Santiago Moure, the largest in Neotropical Region. As a pos doc, I have worked at Botany Department of Universidade Federal do Parana (2015-2017), Ecology Department at Universidade de Brasilia. Since April, I joined Vasconcelos Lab at Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
I my (not so) free time I like to hike, read, cook, bake, grow plants, and spend time cherishing my little kiddos. I also am an amateur photographer, with special interests on architeture, landscapes, and nature (macro) photographs. All the photographs in this website are mine, contact me about use.
